Potential changes to vaping laws

In the context of a reported rise in experimental vaping amongst 11 to 17 year olds and concerns that illegal vapes can contain unsafe levels of lead, nickel and chromium, the Government is looking to tighten up rules relating to vaping.

Currently, it is unlawful to sell nicotine products to under 18s but this does not prevent free samples being provided to children. Accordingly, the Government is proposing to end this practice and also review the rules on fines for shops selling unlawful vapes and vapes to under 18s (for example, by making it easier for Trading Standards Officers to issue on the spot fines and fixed penalty notices).
